You may have thought that once you purchased commercial solar lighting for your parking lot, pathway or area that you would never have to do any maintenance. Well...really you don't , but there are a few things you can do to ensure your lights continue to operate worry-free.
Step 1: Inspect your light systems. Are there any tree branches or any other obstructions in the vicinity of the solar panel(s)? If so, you will need to trim the trees so that the panels do no have any shade over them. After all, the sun is your source of power for these lights and you want to make sure they have access to that free energy!
Step 2: Occasionally the solar panels will need to be cleaned when excess debris is on panels ie bird droppings (yes, the solar panels do make a nice place for birds to do their business - hint: installing bird spikes also helps eliminate a comfortable bird rest area on the panels.
1. Using a non-streaking window cleaner and a soft cloth, thoroughly wipe down the solar panel(s) to remove any dirt and grime that may have accumulated (a plastic scrapper may also be needed for removing bird droppings).
2. Dry the solar panel(s) with a soft clean cloth.
3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2, if necessary, until all dirt and grime have been removed. (Solar panels can get very hot when the sun is out. It is advisable to clean solar panels during the early morning hours).
Step 3: Your job is complete so go enjoy the beautiful spring weather!
