Overview

The three-story Brown Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (BCIE) is now under construction at the Indian River State College (IRSC) Main Campus in Fort Pierce and is scheduled to open in early 2012. The building is being constructed to Gold LEED standards for green construction, and the Center it houses will prepare students for cutting-edge careers in emerging technologies, particularly in energy related fields. The BCIE will also provide programs and services to entrepreneurs and business start-ups planning to create new types of jobs. In addition to the building itself, IRSC needed a lighting solution for the prominent entry drive that would be in keeping with the green and sustainable purpose and construction of the facility.

Sol donated a number of its latest and most economical solutions, the 20/20™ Solar LED Lighting System, to light the entry driveway of the Brown Center. This is in keeping with both the company’s long history of supporting local businesses and institutions and its standard of producing ever-evolving, state-of-the-art solar lighting technology. The 20/20 system delivers unmatched illumination without the installation costs, emitted carbon and costly electric bill always associated with on-grid lighting.
